“Music makes the people come together. YEAH!” Madonna got it right. Music does make people come together. Just like food, it draws you in. We gather when there are good vibrations. Music holds that power, that magnetism. It expresses sentiments effectively and efficiently. Though speeches can be just as charismatic and deliver the message, music can hold your attention longer. Be the center of attention. Draw people in by singing. It does not matter whether the song is moving or just plain silly, as long as you can carry a tune. Wait. You can’t? That could be a bit problematic.

Not to worry. You do not have to stress out over your inability to sing. Human beings are innately programmed to sing. But to sing well, now that is a whole different ball game. You probably had music classes in primary and secondary school. Music definitely piqued your interest, although some people will not readily admit it. But now that school has gone, you wish to broaden your singing horizons. Hiring a voice teacher can be expensive, with weekly meetings plus gas money. The next best alternative is to teach yourself. There are a lot of books and audio-visuals out there in the market.

One in particular is Brett Manning’s Singing Success Vocal Training program. It is an audio-based course with 12 CDs, DVD, and a booklet. The author, Brett Manning, is President and founder of Singing Success. He has been teaching voice for over fifteen years. Some of his clientele include Grammy, Dove and CMA award winners. How can you go wrong with this man? A closer look at his program is much needed.

The first notable feature of the program is that Singing Success offers a journal page to keep track of your progress therefore making it highly personalized. You may not realize it, but success requires goal-setting. With the journal page, you will be able to specify which areas you want to work on for improvement, like your range or your style of singing. And then after you are done with the seventeen sessions you can assess if you are able to sing a different genre or a higher octave.

The second notable feature is that it values the human element of singing. It is not all about techniques, although that is equally important. The program stresses the fact that the sound of your voice is highly dependent on your body. It has included a nutrition page. There is a list of healthy and deadly food for singers. Even a smoothie recipe to soothe your vocal chords! They have advice on how to be healthy and happy because stress causes some vocal dysfunction. Check points are also bulleted for your convenience.

The third notable feature is that there are pictures of the correct and incorrect way of doing the exercises. Sure, the audio’s instructions are very thorough. But still, visuals make a bigger impact in the learning process. It gives you something to imitate. For example, it comes in handy when you are still uncertain about the mouth position. When the instructions say keep your facial muscles loose, you might think, “What?!?!?! You want my face to hang loose?” But with the visual aid you will know that what it meant is to keep your face relaxed and not tight. Another example given there is for your breathing and posture. With the visual aid you can see the proper rise and fall of your stomach when you breathe and the correct way of standing up straight, not too rigid.

However, the only problem with this program is that it comes with 12 CDs and only a booklet. They could have added a few more pages. It is better to listen to the audio while following a book instead of having to periodically look into the book. Now, it does not have to be verbatim of the audio. Just a few words with regard to each session would be beneficial. It is, after all, a singing program.

Overall, the Brett Manning’s Singing Success will definitely deliver its promise of voice improvement. Just remember to commit yourself and the voice will follow through.

Music is one of the many constants in this world, like death and taxes. And just like death and taxes, it is a tricky matter. The music industry has been idealized for the last fifty years. The artists, musicians and singers alike are glorified in such a manner that almost makes everyone want to be a part of the industry or to be them. Truth is there is more to music than the money-making vehicle image being painted by the media. Music is a universal language. It knows no boundaries and race, only heart and stories raring to be expressed and heard. Ever wonder why children are exposed to music at an early age? It is because it helps brain development. Not only that, social and emotional skills are honed.

Unfortunately, music classes are being cut out of the school curriculum across America due to lack of funding. What is your other option if singing is your passion? Self-study is your next resort. The good news is that voice and music lessons abound in your community. The better news is that it is not only limited to human teachers. The best news is that you can avail yourself of singing book guides to help yourself in cultivating your gift or passion.

An example of a book is “Singorama!” “Singorama!” claims to be a complete guide to singing like a professional. A two part program, it comes with a beginner’s book and an advanced book. Also, they have included “SINGORAMA! Mini Recording Studio” to train your musical ear and help you with the exercises. Plus, you’ll receive a bonus e-book called “The Ultimate Guide to Reading Music.”

The beginner’s book reminds me so much of my classes from my youth. Your musical journey will of course, begin with defining singing and its history. Next on the agenda will be the study of how sound is manufactured and how the parts of your “voice machine” affect its quality. This might come across as boring and unnecessary but I think that the writer, Emily Mander, stresses the importance of learning the science behind the art, which brings us to the first good point of this program. The approach used by “Singorama!” is beneficial to those who want to take singing seriously for it will give you a better understanding of your voice mechanism. You are taught the fundamentals of music. You are taught to recognize your own voice and range. You are taught the difference between tone and pitch. You are taught the concepts of music, the jargon of music. These are all lessons that will be the building blocks of your future singing ability. Therefore, it is a must to be covered and it is impressive that they did.

Second good point of this program, the lessons are followed up by exercises with audio tools. The book not only approaches the study through theory but through practice as well. For a better understanding of what was discussed in one chapter, you are given the chance to listen to an example. Say, the book just explained how to try the lip roll exercise. There would be a clear step-by-step instruction on how to form your lips and the like. Then, an audio example is given for you to determine if what you are doing is right or wrong. It also comes with a “SINGORAMA! Virtual Piano” for you to figure out notes and master singing techniques. The SINGORAMA! Mini Recording Studio, on the other hand, is used to review your efforts.

The third good point of the “Singorama!” is its teaching style. The manner in which it was written makes the commitment to music so much more bearable. You would actually think that you are under the wing of a great voice teacher, who is knowledgeable and effective. The language used in the book series is easy to understand. Although there was some musical jargon, they were all explained and discussed methodically and reviewed at the end of every chapter. Some questions you might probably have raised in a live class have been anticipated and answered in the entire series.

The only drawback of this program is that it is too detailed. Now, I know that I am contradicting the first highlighted good point. But this book is not meant for people who are looking into singing as a mere talent to be sharpened. “Singorama!” has a very detailed learning process that would actually require commitment from its reader, a person who is looking into making a career out of it. Although it was made to be fun, the in-depth analysis of singing and the music itself can be overwhelming.

Overall, “Singorama!” is a good deal. In spite of it being heavy on the theory and technical aspect of singing, the meticulousness gives you your money’s worth. Emily Mander has included a myriad of advice to help you find your own voice, your own style, and your own will to succeed. Like what she said in her introductory piece, “this book is ultimately about your voice, your singing, and your musical future!”

Singorama is one of the most highly respected “learn to sing” products on the internet because it offers a lot of features and functions to help you learn how to sing.

Your singing career is probably one of the most important “jobs” that you have. You’re passionately trying to launch it, but realize that the game has changed dramatically in this new world of the Internet. It’s simply not enough these days to record a song and hope that an agent picks you or a label takes you on. These days, you’re on your own, baby.

What if you’re lucky enough to find an agent or to get a label interested in you and your music? The best thing you can do is to ask them how they will market you. If their plans do not include Internet marketing, think YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and Twitter; run like the wind. Of course, these buzzwords are easy to throw out. But, you’ve heard this phrase before; I’m sure, “the devils in the details.”

But alas, music careers these days have changed forever. The Internet, with over 300 million websites and growing, is just one big web of noise. Just multiply the number of websites by the number of webpages on each site and you can imagine how much competition you have for “fan” eyeballs. Even worse, very few people in the technology industry, let alone the music industry, know how to get your music marketed.

And, your music career also needs to be boosted by the ongoing press, play time, and live events. These are not easy tasks to accomplish on a limited budget and without any knowledge of how to do them. For example, did you know that for as little as $50 you can send out your own online press release which will hit many of the major press contacts? Or, that your website is less important than how many links you have back to your website?

A long lasting singing career is a factor of ensuring visibility to a certain demographic of fans. It’s also imperative to consistently communicate with your fan base because that’s what drives loyalty, a sense of community and also sales.

Ok, if the labels can’t help your singing career and you find this Internet marketing stuff too intimidating, you can try a new self-help membership site, called Musician’s Association for Independence. Yes, independence in the form of depending on yourself to succeed. You’re likely to learn and execute on your own strategy faster than getting a label to pick you up. You can find it through 2008 Grammy award winner Patti Austin’s How To Sing website.

Have you ever wondered why some people have beautiful singing voices, while other people can virtually break glass with the sound of their singing? Many people are not lucky enough to have a naturally beautiful singing voice. They wonder if voice training could help them. It would surprise most people to know that many famous singers have had some level of voice training to be able to sing the way that they do.

Not all people are blessed with the ability to sing naturally and beautifully. It’s a good thing that most of those who are not so blessed can learn how to improve their vocal range and sing just like a professional singer.

Many people already know the answer to the question of beautiful singing voices. Now you will learn the secret of how to improve your vocal range, as well. Speech level singing is the best and most effective method to improve your vocal range. This remarkable technique takes unwanted tension off of your vocal cords, which makes singing almost as easy as speaking.

Tons of singers have extended their vocal range by a number of octaves after practicing the “speech level singing” technique.” This is the reason why it became famous within the group of professional singers and singer wannabes. This technique has also been a great help for singers who want to sing properly.

It is so effective because speech level singing trains the muscles inside your voice box to hold together throughout your entire singing range. In addition, the swallowing muscles that surround the larynx are trained to be still so that they do not inhibit you from discovering your full vocal range. If engaged, these swallowing muscles will prevent you from discovering your fullest singing potential.

Usually the inner larynx muscles develop very quickly, which is fortunate because they are your “real” singing instruments. They are very efficient at controlling your vocal chords. That is why speech level singing students report enormous improvements in vocal range when they learn the speech level singing method.

Getting an amazing singing voice can be easy as long as you have the right vocal training and technique. Practicing speech level singing is the best way to go if you really want to improve your vocal range. By attending several vocal lessons, you’ll be able to utilize your vocal instrument to sing properly and with your natural singing voice.

Learning how to sing well is really important for those who aspire to become a career singer. However, choosing the proper singing techniques can be tough. Learning how to sing will surely take time and will definitely require your patience. What you need to know when you’re on your way to learn how to sing is that you need to learn the right breathing techniques first and foremost.

Your vocal chords can’t act on their own when speaking or singing. The tendency is for them to become strained resulting in losing your voice, or worst, damaging your vocal chords. To prevent this, you need to use the air from your diaphragm when you speak and especially when you sing.

The breath should come up from your diaphragm, glide over your vocal chords, carrying with it the sounds you make so that your vocal chords aren’t strained. When speaking or singing, it needs to come from your mouth and teeth rather than your throat so as not to strain your throat. If you use your vocal chords correctly, you could speak or sing all day without ever having a sore throat. But, if you use your throat improperly, you are sure to lose your voice quickly.

Many people do not know how to operate the right body parts at the right time when singing. Certainly you know how to breathe properly, how to use your vocal chords, and how to deal with the acoustic cavities above the vocal chords. But, do you really know how to make them work together? You’ll be able to do so by using the proper singing techniques.

Another good idea is to make sure you are relaxed when you are singing. If you are tense, it will show in your voice. It will also manifest itself often in your face, right between your jaw and mouth. In order for your voice to flow well and come out melodiously, your mouth, teeth, jaw and tongue all need to be loose. Keep tension out of your face and it will stay out of your voice.

Another great singing technique is to make sure you enunciate each and every word when you are singing. Do not go overboard enunciating just for a better and clearer sound, though. Following the above singing techniques will certainly improve your singing voice, which is one way to surely become a better singer.

Singing shouldn’t be limited to those heard on the radio. There are programs and software available to help individuals take the voice they were given and train it to get the best results. Keep in mind that a music artist records in a studio that can manipulate his or her voice in order to sound flawless.

Anyone can absolutely learn how to sing. However, the process can be tough, especially for people who are “tone deaf.” It’s said that to have a great singing voice, you must first have an ear to the high and low key notes.
